A number of opportunities do exist especially in Africa where we have very many languages. Google for example is now available in Swahili and I have seen some bits of it in Luganda. You could translate books, movies, music to whoever needs it of course with permission from the copyright owners.
It is easier if you first secure to the rights to do that and then you roll out on a commercial plan. In this way you can sell the translated materials at a fee and this is how you make the money. Non Government Organisations whose roles is to reach out to the uneducated and the less privileged exist.
The constitution, driving signs, user manuals are all possible avenues for making money. Simply look around your setting and identify where the gaps are and take the bull by the horns. There is more demand in translating from English to a local dialect.
